Why watch?

Marlon Wayans plays it straight here — no typical comedy shtick, just psychological horror with genuine paranoid tension. The film sticks to one idea: something or someone impersonating one of the characters, and that dread builds for the whole 96 minutes without filler scenes. If you like movies that don't explain everything at the end and leave you unsettled, this one hits that note.

Who is it for?

This is an evening watch when you want something darker and twisted — Marlon Wayans in a horror role isn't your typical move. If you remember Scary Movie or liked Haunted House, same kind of vibe here, just played straighter. Horror with a comedic edge, but intense scenes — if gore or violence bothers you, skip it.

If you got into the uncomfortable chaos of Marlon Wayans dealing with ghosts and stuff that doesn't quite add up, Insidious has that same vibe—something weird is happening in the house and the characters gradually lose grip on what's actually going on. Sinister does domestic strangeness that suddenly turns genuinely nasty. And Ouija climbs toward horror through weird objects and building dread about something present in the room, relying on tension instead of jump scares.

Classic overview

After suffering a potentially career-ending brain trauma, Cameron Cade receives a lifeline when his hero, legendary eight-time Championship quarterback and cultural megastar Isaiah White, offers to train Cam at Isaiah's isolated compound that he shares with his celebrity influencer wife. But as Cam's training accelerates, Isaiah's charisma begins to curdle into something darker.

AI Spotlight

Cameron Cade is a rising basketball player whose career hangs by a thread after a devastating brain injury, until his idol—Isaiah White, an eight-time world champion and cultural icon—invites him to train at his secluded compound. Marlon Wayans plays Isaiah with a charisma that slowly curdles into something unsettling, and Justin Tipping builds the atmosphere so you never quite trust what's happening behind closed doors. The film toys with you like Isaiah toys with Cameron: every kindness feels like it could snap into cruelty at any second. If you liked Squid Game or Uncut Gems, where ambition and desperation warp everything, this scratches that same itch.
